Description
First of all. Wow. SO SOFT.
Garthenor is one of my favorite recent discoveries. They are so thoughtful and creative in all of the yarns they make. Here's an example:
Here's where the fiber for this yarn comes from: Polwarth from Dunbar Island, Falklands; Romney from Wiltshire, England; Hebridean from The Black Isle, Scotland and Gwent, Wales. It is Scoured, spun and dyed in West Yorkshire. It's lied and skeined at Garthenor Farm, West Wales. What other yarn companies can give you this much detail?!
This yarn is heathered - they combine natural, grey, and black wools to get that look, and then overdye it for some of the colors.
Preseli is a blend of Polwarth, Romney and Hebridean wools - each has its own range of natural colors and characteristics - and the sheep are pretty cute, too. The combination of the way the yarn is spun with the variety of wools makes it one of Garthenor's softest yarns. Additionally, it is a fantastic choice for colorwork!
I hand wash this yarn in cold water and lay flat to dry.
